The Women's Trauma Manual is designed for women with a history of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Complex PTSD (severe childhood trauma or abuse) to understand and overcome their symptoms. The manual consists of 12 sessions, each of which addresses a trauma symptom (such as nightmares, flashbacks, avoidance, dissociation, hyperarousal, impulsivity, numbing, self-injury, addictions and poor self esteem) and teaches a cognitive behavioral tool (for example grounding, rescripting nightmares, behavior scripts, safe places imagery, positive distractions, the stop and snap technique) that helps women deal with these symptoms. The Women's Trauma Manual is part of the Syndrome Specific Group Therapy Program (SSGT) for the treatment of serious mental illness (SMI).
